Insubres ( lat. Insubres ) - an ancient Celtic people who settled at the beginning of the Iron Age in Cisalpian Gaul ( lat. Gallia Transalpina ) on the plain of the Po River [1] , with the main city Mediolan (present-day Milan ).

Together with the battles - the most powerful and warlike people in Italian Gaul. Subjugated by the Romans led by Lucius Valerius Flaccus shortly after the Second Punic War . Insubra adopted the Latin language and Roman culture, and were soon romanized.
