Daniel Winnik ( born Daniel Winnik ; March 6, 1985 , Toronto , Canada ) is a professional Canadian hockey player who plays for the NHL club Minnesota Wild .

Game career
From 2001 to 2003, Winnick played for the Wexford Raiders in the Ontario Junior Hockey League. He spent the next three years at the NCAA for the team at the University of New Hampshire . According to the results of the second season of performances, the Canadian scored 18 goals and scored 40 points.
After the first year of college, Daniel Winnick was selected in the 2004 draft in the ninth round by the Phoenix Coyotes club. On March 31, 2006, he entered into a three-year rookie contract with the club, which entered into force on the 2006/07 season [1] . Almost immediately, he made his professional debut, playing at the end of the 2005-06 season in the AHL for the San Antonio Rampage farm club .
In his first full professional season 2006-07, Winnik played for Rampage in the AHL, where he scored 21 points in 66 games, as well as for the Phoenix Roadrunners in the East Coast Hockey League ( ECHL ).
The hockey player spent the 2007-08 season in the NHL, playing for the Phoenix Coyotes. Daniel scored his first goal in the NHL on October 4, 2007 against the St. Louis Blues (3: 2). By the end of his first season in the NHL, Winnick firmly entered the main team.
After a promising start, Daniel’s success in the NHL began to decline - in the regular season 2008-09 he scored only 7 points in 49 games, stopped getting into the main squad and was sent to the San Antonio Rampage, for which he spent 5 games.
On July 24, 2009, Winnick extended the contract with Coyotes for one year [2] .
The next season, 2009-10, the Canadian showed a more stable game, gaining 19 (4 + 15) points in 74 games for a team from Arizona. That season, “Coyotes” made it to the Stanley Cup playoffs for the first time in eight years, but lost in the first round to the Detroit Red Wings (3: 4). Daniel took part in all seven games in the series, but did not score points.
On June 28, 2010, the Phoenix Coyotes traded Winnick at the Colorado Avalanche to pick in the fourth round of the 2012 draft [3] . On July 2, 2010, Daniel signed a two-year contract with Avalanche. [4]
On February 27, 2012, the Colorado Avalanche exchanged Winnick, striker TJ Gallardi and the 2013 seventh round draft pick , previously owned by Anaheim, at San Jose Sharks for strikers Jamie McGinn , Mike Connolly and Michael Sgarboss [5 ] .
On July 20, 2012, as a free agent, the hockey player moved to Anaheim Ducks , signing a two-year contract with the club [6] .
On July 28, 2014, Winnick joined the team from his hometown of the Toronto Maple Leafs and signed a one-year contract worth $ 1.3 million. [7] During the 2014-15 season, the player scored 25 (7 + 18) points in 58 matches.
On February 25, 2015, Daniel was traded to Pittsburgh Penguins for striker Zach Sill , choice in the fourth round of the draft of 2015 and choice in the second round of the draft of 2016 [8] . Playing for the “penguins”, Winnick scored 9 (2 + 7) points in 21 matches of the NHL regular season, but could not help the team reach the semifinals of the playoff conference.
On July 1, 2015, the Canadian moved back to Toronto and signed a two-year contract [9] .
On February 29, 2016, the hockey player was traded to the Washington Capitals club for striker Brooks Layh and defender Connor Carrick . In addition, Washington got a choice in the 5th round of the draft 2016 (Toronto selection, previously obtained from Anaheim) [10] .
