Characteristic features of the species are constantly distinctly lamellar hymenophore and growth almost exclusively on birch wood.

Fruit bodies are annual, flat, flat, solitary or tiled, half to reniform, up to 7 cm long and up to 4 cm wide, rigid, with a sharp wavy edge. The upper surface is flat to slightly convex, with numerous concentric zones painted in various shades of brown. Dead fruit bodies become almost white, darkish at the base.
Hymenophore radially lamellar, branched plates, up to 2.5 cm wide, painted in brownish tones.
The flesh is pale brown to wood color, with slightly pronounced concentric zones.
Spores are cylindrical, smooth, colorless, 9–11 × 2–2.5 microns. Hyphal system trimitic. Cystides are absent.
Widespread species in Northern Europe, as well as in Siberia. Meets almost exclusively on birch wood, singly marked on gray alder and rowan ordinary .
