Painted warblers are small passerine birds. Body length 9.5-12 cm. Weight varies from 4 to 9 grams.

Birds nest in the temperate forests of South and Southeast Asia. They hibernate in the tropical latitudes of the same region, that is, they are migratory birds.

The systematic position of yet another species - the gray - headed warbler is debatable, the species belongs either to the genus warbler ( Phylloscopus ), or to the genus painted warblers ( Seicercus ). Depending on this, the Latin name of this bird is either Phylloscopus xanthoschistos or Seicercus xanthoschistos . Both options are acceptable.
