Passport Types
There are three types of passports:
- Diplomatic (burgundy cover)
- Issued for Kenyan diplomats accredited abroad and their recognized dependents and citizens who permanently reside in the Republic of Kenya for their trips abroad for diplomatic work. Validity: usually 10 years from the date of issue.
- Normal (navy blue cover)
- Issued for Kenyan citizens traveling abroad is issued for a period of 10 years.
- East African Passport (light blue cover)
- Issued for Kenyans for international travel within the East African Community , valid for six months and suitable for multiple entries into Tanzania , Uganda , Rwanda and Burundi . [2]
Appearance
Kenyan passports have the golden coat of arms of Kenya in the center of the front cover. The “Republic of Kenya” is inscribed in golden text above the emblem, and the “passport” is inscribed in golden text under the emblem. The back cover is left blank.
The note occupies the first page of the passport, and the data occupies the last pages. The identity information page is printed on the inside of the back cover of the passport, and information about the person and his signature are indicated on the penultimate page. The pages of the Kenyan passport are covered in watermarks with the Kenyan coat of arms. The pages of the passport are characterized by the image of the " big five " animals commonly found in Kenyan national parks and reserves: Lion, elephant, leopard, rhinoceros and buffalo.
On the inside of the front cover of the passport the words are written in Swahili:
In order to ask and demand in the name of the President of Kenya, for all those whom it may touch, to allow the bearer to pass freely without delay and interference, and to take advantage of all the help and protection that he or she may need in him or her . "
Application Process
In order to apply for a passport, you must:
- Documentary evidence of Kenyan citizenship, in the form of a birth certificate and a national identity card, as well as details and identity cards (passports) of the parent (s).
- In the case of previous citizenship in another country, a certificate of naturalization or registration and a certificate of renunciation of former citizenship.
- Passport size photo.
- A recommendation legally certified by a religious officer, an established civil servant of the bank, or an official who personally knows the candidate, but not a close relative, plus possession of an ID card.
- A written statement by parents or legal guardians in the case of an applicant who has not reached the age of eighteen.
