Boris Semenovich Kononov (November 23, 1930-1997) - economic and scientific figure, candidate of technical sciences (1972), director of a number of leading instrument-making plants. Twice winner of the USSR State Prize (1970, 1981).

Biography
Born in 1930 in the village of Kemsky timber plant in the Shalsky district of the Vologda region.
In 1953 he graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Aviation Instrumentation .
In 1963-1972 he headed the Michurinsky Instrument-Making Plant "Progress" . As a director and scientist in the field of aircraft construction, he laid down a number of fundamentally new areas and production technologies. Kononov - the organizer of serial production of electronic units for autopilots. Under him, the plant participated in the lunar program - made some parts for the Luna-17 lunar rover. [one]
Since December 1972 he became the first director of the Experimental Plant of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in the village of Chernogolovka, Moscow Region, where he worked until 1986, then - the director of the Moscow enterprise Tochpribor.
He died in 1997.
Awards and Prizes
- USSR State Prize (1970) - for the development by the Michurinsky Plant "Progress" of the production of devices included in the design of lunar vehicles Luna-17
- USSR State Prize (1981) - for the development, creation and implementation of a set of devices for eye microsurgery and the study of electronic characteristics of living cells.
