Tit Lafrenius

Titus Lafrenius ( Latin: Titus Lafrenius ; died in 90 BC) is an Italian military leader.

When the Italians rebelled against Rome (91–90 BC), Titus Lafrenius became one of the “general leaders with unlimited power over the entire allied army” [1] . He acted against the Romans in northern Italy. Pompey Strabo besieged Lafrenia in Auskul, but Gaius Vidacilius and Vettius Skaton came to the aid of the city. The three Italian commanders pushed Pompey to the Falernaya mountain, defeated them in battle and locked them in the city of Firms, after which Vidacilius and Skalon left (apparently assuming that Pompey was no longer a serious opponent), and only the Lafrenia army remained to besiege the Firms. This time the Romans got help: the legate Servius Sulpicius Galba attacked the Italians from the rear and set fire to their camp. Lafrenius died in battle, and the remnants of his army fled to Auskul [2] .
