Content
Club career
Born in the city of Singen , Baden-Württemberg , Germany , in a family of Portuguese immigrants; the family returned to their historic homeland when Cedric was 2 years old [1] [2] . He joined the Sporting youth team when he was eight years old, in 1999.
Cedric made his debut in the Portuguese Championship on May 8, 2011 in a match against Vitoria . In the 2011/12 season , he went on loan to the club of the Portuguese Championship “ Academica ” [3] , where he went out regularly in the starting lineup. He played in the victory for the “Academician” Portuguese Cup final 2011/12 90 minutes [4] .
Subsequently, returning to Lisbon , Cedric played stably in the starting lineup with several coaches [5] . On May 31, 2015, in the 2014/15 Portuguese Cup final, he received a red card in the 14th minute for a foul on Braga player Javana , but in the end Sporting won [6] .
June 18, 2015 he moved to the English club " Southampton ", concluding a four-year contract [7] . The transfer amount was 6.5 million euros [8] [9] . He made his debut on July 30, 2015 in the match of the third qualifying round of the Europa League against the Dutch club Vitess [10] .
January 26, 2019 moved to the Italian club Inter on loan until the end of the 2018/19 season [11] [12] .
Team Career
Cedric played for various youth national teams of Portugal . The first match for the national team was played on October 11, 2014 in a friendly match against France [13] [14] .
Cedric held the European Championship 2016 as a player in the main squad of the Portuguese national team. In the final match with the hostess of the tournament of the French national team, Portugal pulled out a minimal victory in extra time, which made Cedric the European champion.
