Hormizd VI is known for coins minted in central Iran, but history has not preserved any information about it. Most likely, this is the same Farrukh-Hormizd , the Khakhsan spahbad, who killed Khosrov III , and, in turn, killed Azarmedokht (that is, not Sassanid by blood). Perhaps he was not even proclaimed a shah, but received the right to mint under Buran for his services - the conclusion that he was not the first person of the state can be drawn from a large number of low-weight Ormizd drachmas, as if “second-rate” . His influence on power was undoubtedly significant, and, apparently, he was the decisive person in all the political changes that took place at the court after the death of Shahrvaraz . This is indirectly confirmed by the duration of the emission of drachmas of Ormizd VI: they are dated 1, 2 and 3 years and were issued at many mints. Information on the influence of this man has been preserved by historical tradition: Theophanes the Byzantine , who wrote in the 9th century , dates the events that took place in Iran after the Buran, according to the years of the reign of “King Hormizd”.

Iranian numismatists, assuming the existence of a usurper with the name Hormizd ( Hormiz V ), consider Farrukh Hormizda Hormiz VI. In Western literature and catalogs of numismatic auctions, he is usually called Hormizd V.

Recently, Iranian historians published two unique dramas (similar to the early Khosrov II Parviz , but with the name "Ormizd" and the title "hanspach" instead of the year of reign), minted in the mint with the abbreviation SM, suggesting that these are the early Farrukh-Ormizda dramas, beaten by him in Samarkand before his departure to the west. However, it can be assumed that, judging by the appearance, they are more suitable for Hormizd V. [1]
