Saurauia oroquensis (lat.) Is a species of dicotyledonous plants of the genus Saurauia ( Saurauia ) of the family Actinidiaceae . First described by the botanist Jaya Jendul Suiarto in 1989 [2] [3] .

DistributionThe range of Saurauia oroquensis is located on the border of Colombia (Department of Northern Santander ) and Venezuela (State of Tachira ) [4] . The species is described by a typical specimen growing in a forest on the side of a road in Northern Santander at an altitude of 2600 m [3] .

Saurauia oroquensis is close to the species Saurauia bullosa Wawra , but differs from the latter in the absence of trichomes on the underside of the leaf, a much smaller number of stamens, and differing features of sepal pubescence in the flower [4] .
Environmental SituationAccording to the International Union for Conservation of Nature for 1997, the species was considered endangered (“E”) [6] .
