Lopholithodes foraminatus (lat.) - a species of hermit crabs from the craboid family . It lives along the Pacific coast of North America from Kodiak Island ( Alaska ) to San Diego ( California ) [1] , at a depth of 0 to 547 m [2] . The length of the shell is 15 cm; they feed on bivalve mollusks and detritus . Often buried in the bottom sludge, and then water for breathing enters their gills through holes in the claws [1] . Sometimes fish from the genus Careproctus lays eggs in their gill cavities [3] .
