Biography
He graduated from Royal High School. In 1959 - 1966 he studied at the Royal Conservatory in London, from 1967 to 1970 he studied at Queens College of Cambridge University .
In 1971, he founded the City of London Sinfonia chamber orchestra ( en: City of London Sinfonia ), whose undisputed leader was for many years - until his death in 2008 . In 1972, he also founded the Richard Hickox Singers and Orchestra team.
In 1972 - 2008 was the head of the music festival Endellion Music Festival .
In 1976 - 1991 - head of the London Symphony Choir . Also from 1985 to 2008 - guest conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra .
In 1982 - 1990 - artistic director of the Northern Sinfonia Orchestra.
In 1990, he founded the Collegium Musicum Orchestra with Simon Standage Hickox.
He died on November 23, 2008 from a heart attack.

Richard Hickox is a promoter of 20th century British music.
He made numerous recordings on EMI and Chandos labels. Among the recordings are complete sets of symphonies by Malcolm Arnold , Ralph Vaughan-Williams , Edmund Rubbr , Michael Tippett , William Alvin , Edward Elgar , “London Symphonies” by Haydn, operas by Benjamin Britten , Geogre Friedrich Handel , Christopher Wilciulloid Jendelt of Verdiguen Galleldiverd , vocal and symphonic compositions by Giuseppe Verdi , Joseph Haydn (full set of masses), Felix Mendelssohn , Karl Orff , Gustav Holst .
