Biography

Alexander Ivanovich Evdokimov was born in the village of Zhekupino (now in the Novorzhevsky district of the Pskov region ). He graduated from the 5th grade of the school. He worked on the construction of the Volga-Rybinsk Canal .

In 1940, the Sandovsky RVK of the Kalinin region was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army . On the fronts of World War II since July 1941 . In the first battle of Velikiye Luki he was wounded. After the cure, he came to the front as part of battalion intelligence. He was wounded in a battle near Myasniy Bor . In total, during the war he was 6 times wounded and 1 shell-shocked. He was last injured during the storming of Berlin .

July 18, 1943 he was awarded the medal "For the Defense of Leningrad"

By the beginning of 1944, he served in the 497th reconnaissance patrol of the 239th Infantry Division. On the night of February 21, 1944, with a group of scouts, Evdokimov was sent to the enemy rear with the task of obtaining a language . In the area of ​​the village of Sivkovo, Novgorod Region, he saw in the darkness an enemy machine gunner, attacked him and stunned him. The group returned to the location of its unit without loss. The prisoner provided valuable information, and Evdokimov was presented for the award. March 1, 1944 Evdokimov was awarded the Order of Glory 3rd degree.

In early June 1944, Evdokimov and a group of scouts near Pskov destroyed the headquarters of the enemy regiment, several dugouts, seized staff documents, captured the sergeant-major tankman and returned to the location of their unit on the tank hijacked from the enemy. When the group left, Evdokimov was wounded. On July 7, 1944, he was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree.

On the night of June 24, Evdokimov, as part of a group of scouts, penetrated the location of the enemy’s headquarters, seized valuable documents from the headquarters and scouted the enemy’s fire system. On August 10, 1944, he was re-awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree. By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 27, 1958, he was re-awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree.

On the night of July 21-22, 1944, Evdokimov, combing through the forest, found an enemy convoy on one of the country roads. Scouts fired at the convoy, killed 3 enemy soldiers and captured one cart with property and documents. The group returned to the location of the unit without loss. Evdokimov was presented to the medal "For Courage" . On August 8, 1944, he was awarded the Order of the Red Star .

Evdokimov fought before the Victory, but was seriously wounded during the storming of Berlin. He was sent for treatment to a hospital in Kislovodsk and after treatment remained to live there after demobilization. He worked there at PMK No. 428 of the Karachaycherkesselkhozstroy trust, then as a carpenter at SMU No. 8.

He died on March 5, 1979.
