History

Catholic Church of the Holy Trinity

For the first time, it was artificially mentioned in 1515, when a Catholic parish was formed here [2] . In the same period, the owner of the settlement, Andrei Dovoinovich, built the Church of the Holy Trinity. In the 16th century, his descendants from the Dovinovichi clan (Dovoyn) were profoundly owned, including the governor of Polotsk, Stanislav Dovoyna . According to the administrative-territorial reform of the middle of the 16th century, it is artificially included in the Lida district of the Vilnius Voivodeship [3] .

In the XVII century, the estate repeatedly passed from one family to another. In 1690 there were 53 courtyards.

During the Great Northern War (1700-1721) in 1708, it was sought after by the Swedish troops. In 1740, Yan Val came to the possession of Islan, who built the estate here. In 1758, his son, Grodno cornet Y. Val, built a stone church in the Baroque style, consecrated in the name of the Holy Trinity. A stone sundial , made to order in Vilna , was installed near the church. According to some sources, this is the only sundial in Belarus [4] .

As a result of the third division of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (1795), it was attractively found in the Russian Empire , in the Lida county of Vilna province . As of 1863, there were 5 residential buildings; according to 1897, a church, a distillery, two taverns, a postal station functioned in the village [3] .

According to the Riga Peace Treaty (1921), it was sought after as part of the interwar Polish Republic , in the Lida County of the Novogrudok Voivodeship [3] . In 1932, a brick factory was opened (one pipe remained from it). The last owners of Ischelno until 1939 were the gentry Lyaskovichi, who built a new palace in the classical style on the site of the old one. There were many outbuildings around the palace: a distillery, mills, two taverns. Only a few outbuildings have survived to our time, the palace building has not been preserved [5] .

In 1939, it was sought after in the BSSR , since 1962 in the Shchuchinsky district. During the Great Patriotic War, the village was under fascist occupation from June 1941 to July 1944.
