The team finished the season in 15th place of the championship. In the FA Cup, Newton Heat lost to Lincoln City in the first “interim" round.
In the Lancashire Cup, the team entered the second round, where they lost to the Stockport Central club. In the Grand Cup of Manchester, “Newton Heat”, as well as last season, reached the final, but this time won over its principal rival “ Manchester City ”.
At the end of the season, President of Newton Heat, William Healy, filed a lawsuit to recover a loan from the club in the amount of 242 pounds 17 shillings and 10 pennies , which the club owed him since January 1902. Newton Heat's total debt was £ 2,600, and the club was declared bankrupt. Two months later, team captain Harry Stafford was able to convince local businessman John Henry Davis to invest in the club and save him from bankruptcy. Davis, in collaboration with three other local businessmen, invested £ 2,000 in the club. Davis became the president of the club, which changed its name to Manchester United.
