The settlement of the Chudov Monastery is one of the Moscow settlements . It existed in the XVII - XVIII centuries. as a monastic possession of the Chudov monastery [1] .
The settlement of the Chudov Monastery was located not far from the Crimean ford and was very small in size - in 1638 there were only 8 yards in it [1] . Its foundation is connected with the Kremlin Miracle Monastery, which was founded by Metropolitan Alexei in 1365 . The Miracle Monastery, being stauropegic, was administered by the metropolitans and patriarchs, and in the XVI - XVII centuries. it was sometimes called a laurel [2] .
Miracles monastery owned large land plots, as it was a court monastery. For housekeeping, he needed land where he could settle monastic service staff. The allocation of land was hampered by the fact that, being in the Kremlin, the monastery was located directly between the walls and several buildings. Therefore, the monastery was invited to found a settlement near the modern Crimean square with access to the Moscow River . The monastery received backyard and garden lands in 1613, after which two stone and several wooden buildings were built in the settlement. In 1790, the territory of the settlement was estimated at 8.9 hectares of land. In the XVIII century it was abolished [2] .
