The Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Armenia began to operate from December 6, 1918 , when the Council of the first Republic of Armenia adopted the Law “On the application of the laws of the former Russian Empire in Armenia”.

In December 1922, with the formation of the Soviet Union among other allied state bodies, the prosecutor’s office of the USSR Supreme Court was also founded, and the prosecution office of the Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic became subordinate to the subdivision of this body in Soviet Armenia .
On July 20, 1933, the USSR Prosecutor’s Office was founded by a joint decision of the Central Executive Committee of the USSR and the Council of People’s Commissars, the structural units of which were the procuracy of the Union republics.
On February 27, 1959, a board was established in the Armenian Prosecutor’s Office headed by the prosecutor of the republic.
On July 5, 1995, the first Constitution of the Republic of Armenia was adopted. On October 5, 1995, the military prosecutor's office was established as a separate unit within the structure of the Armenian prosecutor’s office.
