Biography

Princess Maria di Grazia was born in Cannes on August 12, 1878. She was the daughter of Prince Alfonso of Bourbon-Sicilian, Count of Caserta and his wife, Princess Maria Antoinette of Bourbon-Sicilian.

Marriage and offspring

On November 4, 1908, in Cannes, Princess Maria di Grazia married Prince Louis of Mary of Orleans-Bragan, the son of Prince Gaston of Orleans, Count O and his wife, the imperial Princess Isabelle of Brazil. The spouses had three children:

  • Prince Pedro Enrique Afonso Felipe Maria Miguel Gabriel Gonzaga Rafael Orleans-Braganans (13.09.1909 - 05.07.1981), 08.19.1937 in Nymphenburg was married to Princess Maria Elizabeth of Bavaria (1914 - 2011). The spouses had twelve children;
  • Prince Luis Gastau Antonio Maria Filipe Miguel Gabriel Gonzaga Rafael Orleans-Braganans (02.19.1911 - 09.09.1931);
  • Princess Pia Maria Isabella Ranier Anthony Vitoria Theresa Amelia Gerard Raimund Anna Mikael Rafael Gabriela Gonzaga Orleans-Braganza (03.03.1913 - 10.24.2000), 08/12/1933 in Paris married with Count Rene Nikolai.

Dowager Princess

Prince Luis died in 1920. In 1922, the Dowager Princess escorted the Brazilian imperial family to Brazil to celebrate the centenary of the country's independence. During the trip, Count O died due to an accident.

Princess Maria di Grazia lived a long life. She died in Mandela la Napoule on June 20, 1973.
