(1236) Thais ( lat.Thaïs ) - an asteroid from the group of the main belt , belonging to the spectral class T. It was discovered on November 6, 1931 at the Simeiz Observatory by the Russian ( Soviet ) astronomer Grigory Neuimin . It is named after the famous Athenian getter - Thais , who enjoyed the favor of Alexander the Great [1] . The asteroid makes its full revolution around the Sun in 3.79 Julian years .
