The church was built in the Romanesque style in the XIII century next to the hospital of St. Fina . The building is lined with travertine (lower part) and brick, decorated with a portal of the leaning type with a rosette of burnt clay.
The church received its name “ in Tempio ” from an unconfirmed tradition that its builders were the Knights Templar , returning from the First Crusade . [one]
The interior of the church is decorated with frescoes of the XIV century: “Madonna on the Throne with the Baby with Saints Jacob and John the Baptist ”, attributed to Memmo di Filippuccio , “ Crucifixion ” and “ Descent from the Cross ” by an unknown artist.
