Title
Named after George Tyler Wood ( Wood Ville - City of Wood ) - the second governor of Texas.
Geography
Woodville is located in the center of the county and several highways converge in it at once: US 69 , US 190 and US 287 ; Altitude is 269 feet (82 m ). The total area of the town is 3.15 square miles (8.16 km²) [2] [3] . The climate is classified as subtropical monsoon , which corresponds to hot, humid summers and mild, cool winters, but frost also occurs [4] .
Demographics
The population for 2010 was 2586 people, including 598 families, and the number of residential buildings was 1021. By race, 70% of the population were European, 26.5% African-American, 0.3% Indian, 0.6% Asians, 0.2% are natives of the Pacific, 0.9% are of a different race, and 1.5% are mestizos. Hispanics accounted for 4.4% of the population. The average age of the residents was 42.2 years, and the ratio was as follows: 25.5% of the population was under the age of 20; 22.1% - from 20 to 40 years old; 27.6% - from 40 to 65 years old; 24.8% - from 65 years and older. The ratio of the number of men and women averaged 80.3 to 100 [5] .
According to 2013 data, 2513 people lived in Woodville, including 1109 (44.2%) men and 1404 (55.8%) women, and the average age was 36.6 years. The average per capita income was estimated at $ 18,716 , and for each house - $ 95,441 . The median rent for a home was $ 744 [2] .
