Botanical Description
Biennial herbaceous plant (3) 6-75 cm tall, with a pronounced stem root. The stalk is usually the only one, erect, green or purple, up to 5 mm thick, branched at the top, pubescent with multicellular branched hairs, as well as short pressed simple hairs, under the baskets - also very short glandular hairs.
The leaves are green, with scattered simple pubescence, basal and lower stem - 2.5–15 × 0.3–1.8 cm, reverse-lanceolate, with a whole or rarely and fine-toothed margin, soon dying, petiolate; medium stem - 1.5-10 × 0.2-1.3 cm, lanceolate or oblong-lanceolate, with a solid edge, sessile; upper ones are progressively decreasing.
Baskets are collected in panicles, 1.1-2 × 0.8-1.1 cm, with a wide-bell or hemispherical wrapper with 4 rows of leaves. Outer leaves 2–2.5 mm long, green or reddish, lanceolate, covered with protruding multicellular pubescence, usually also with a very short glandular. Inner leaflets 6-7 mm long, with a narrow white filmy margin, along the vein with a short glandular and few simple pubescence. External reed flowers are pistillate, 7–8 mm long, with a tube 3–3.5 mm long, limb 4–4.5 mm long, linear, pink. Internal marginal flowers with a shortened tongue, 3–3.5 mm long. The middle flowers are tubular, bisexual, 4-5.2 mm long, narrowly conical, yellow, with a pink column.
Achenes 1.5-1.8 mm long, oblong-lanceolate, light brown, covered with a semi-pubescent simple pubescence, with a reddish tuft 3.7-7 mm long.
