Initial Biography

Vladimir Vasilyevich Halkiopov was born on November 9, 1895 in Moscow.

Military Service

World War I and Civil War

In August 1914, he was drafted into the ranks of the Russian Imperial Army and assigned to the 1st rank volunteer in the 1st reserve artillery brigade (Moscow Military District), and in October of that year he was sent to study at the Kazan Military School , after which in May 1915 was appointed to the post of junior company officer in the Tiflis 15th Grenadier Regiment ( Western Front ). In August of that year, warrant officer Halkiopov was wounded in the leg and shell-shocked and captured, after which he was in a prisoner of war camp in Austria-Hungary .

In September 1918, Khalkiopov was released from captivity for the exchange of prisoners of war and in November of the same year joined the Red Army , after which he was appointed commander of the 46th reserve working regiment of the Alekseevsky district of Moscow .

Since March 1919, he was in the reserve headquarters of the Moscow military district and in July was appointed to the position of platoon commander of the 3rd reserve battalion of the Moscow military district. Since September, he served as assistant commander and chief of communications of the 16th reserve battalion of the 8th army , from December as a platoon commander and chief of communications of the 3rd reserve infantry regiment, and since October 1920, as battalion commander and head of the regimental school in the 1st Ukrainian Rifle Regiment ( Ukrainian Reserve Army ). Since August 1922, Khalkiopov served in the 144th rifle regiment as a company commander, assistant commander and battalion commander, chief of staff of the regiment and deputy regiment commander for combatant unit. In October 1924 he was appointed to the post of assistant chief of the operational part of the headquarters of the 2nd Rifle Corps , in September 1927 - to the post of assistant chief of the 2nd Division, and then to the post of chief of the 1st sector of this department of the headquarters of the Moscow Military. Vladimir Vasilievich Khalkiopov in May 1931 was transferred to the reserve.

In September 1939, he was re-drafted into the ranks of the Red Army and appointed to the post of assistant chief of the 1st department headquarters of the 23rd Rifle Corps , after which he took part in the hostilities during the Soviet-Finnish War .

After graduating from the MV Frunze Military Academy in March 1941, he was appointed assistant chief of the operational department of the headquarters of the 40th Rifle Corps ( Transcaucasian Military District ).

World War II

With the outbreak of war, Khalkiopov was in his former position and in July 1941 was appointed to the post of chief of the operational department of the headquarters of the same corps, on the basis of which the 44th Army ( Transcaucasian Front ) was soon formed. In August, he was appointed to the post of chief of the operational department of the headquarters of the same army, after which he took part in the operation to send troops into Iran . In October, the army was redeployed to the Makhachkala region, and in November - to the Black Sea coast to the Anapa region, after which it took part in the Kerch-Feodosia landing operation , during which it liberated the Kerch Peninsula and Feodosia , and then in the fighting on the peninsula, and in May, retreated to Kerch , and then evacuated to the Taman Peninsula . In August 1942 he was appointed to the post of deputy chief of the operational department of the headquarters of the Transcaucasian Front .

In August 1943 he was appointed chief of staff of the 13th Rifle Corps , and from April 25 to May 8, 1944, Khalkiopov temporarily commanded the corps. The corps took part in hostilities during the Novorossiysk-Taman offensive and Kerch-Eltigen landing operations , and then in the Zhytomyr-Berdychiv , Proskurov-Chernivtsi , Lviv-Sandomir , East Carpathian , West Carpathian , Moravian-Ostrava and Prague offensive operations . For the difference shown in these operations, Colonel Vladimir Vasilyevich Khalkiopov was awarded the Order of the Red Banner .

Post-War Career

After the war he was in his former position.

In April 1946 he was appointed to the post of chief of staff of the 13th Rifle Corps ( Tbilisi Military District ), in May of that year - to the post of teacher, and then - to the post of senior teacher in operational-tactical training - the tactical leader of the group at the Military Academy named after M.V. Frunze .

Colonel Vladimir Vasilyevich Halkiopov died on April 4, 1949 in Moscow .
