Canadian-Uruguayan Relations

Canadian-Uruguayan Relations - Bilateral diplomatic relations between Canada and Uruguay . Both countries established diplomatic relations in January 1953. Canada has an embassy in Montevideo [1] , and Uruguay has an embassy in Ottawa , 2 Consulates General in Montreal and Toronto , and an honorary consulate in Vancouver [2] .

Canada and Uruguay have a Foreign Investment Protection Agreement (FIPA), which entered into force in 1999; a bilateral social security agreement that entered into force in January 2002; and bilateral agreement on the promotion of joint film projects, which entered into force in October 2005.

Both countries are full members of the Kern Group and the Organization of American States .
