Kapranov, Victor Pavlovich

Victor Pavlovich Kapranov was born in 1886 . From the beginning of the 1900s he lived in Moscow , worked as a saddler. He participated in the December armed uprising in Krasnaya Presnya in 1905 , was a member of the military working squad in Zamoskvorechye. In 1908 he joined the Bolshevik Party. Later he moved to St. Petersburg , where he was actively engaged in revolutionary activities, was one of the leaders of the St. Petersburg professional union of leatherworkers. He was repeatedly arrested by the police, expelled twice and imprisoned ^[1] .

The revolutionary events of 1917 Kapranov met in Moscow. In August 1917, he and a group of Bolsheviks organized a general strike of tanners, and later was one of the founders of the Red Guard units in the Dorogomilovsky subdistrict. After the establishment of Soviet power, Kapranov worked in the trade union bodies of Soviet Russia and the USSR. In 1918 - 1930, he served as chairman and secretary of the Central Committee of the professional union of tanners. He was elected a member of the Central Executive Committee and the CEC of the USSR . He died in 1930, was buried in the Dreskoy Colombarium at the New Donskoye Cemetery of Moscow ^[1] .

In honor of Kapranov, Nizhny Predtechensky Lane was renamed in Moscow , the Palace of Culture and Technology of the Leningrad Production Association “Skorokhod” was named (a memorial plaque was also installed on the latter) and a children's shoe factory ^[1] .
