Balabanyan, Araci

Araci Balabanyan was born in 1940 in the city of Campo Grande, the state of Mato Grosso do Sul , into an Armenian family. Parents, Raphael and Esther Balabanyan, leaving Western Armenia, reached the city of Hutch, thus avoiding the 1915 genocide. Her parents wanted the girl to bear the name after the Araks River, but also to pay homage to their new homeland, they excluded one letter from the name. In the language of South American Indians "Aras" means "Mother of Light."

The family moved to Sao Paulo , where actress Maria della Costa helped Araci to become part of a theatrical community. Arasi entered the Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Philosophy, in parallel, she enrolled in the School of Dramatic Art, which she successfully completed at the age of 22, regardless of her father's requests, to leave the theater in the third year of university.

Macbeth was a graduation performance, and after it, Jorge Amado from the Brazilian Comedy Theater, staged the play The Skeleton of the Baron, after which Araci Balabanyan was considered one of the most promising actresses. In 1964, she first appeared on television. The father of the actress, Rafael Balabanyan, who refused to forgive his daughter's passion for the theater and remained silent for a long time, made peace with Araci in 1968, thanks to a television role in the television series “Antonio Maria”, where Aracy played in conjunction with actor Sergio Cardoso.

Arasi Balabanyan played her most prominent role in the theater, staged by the famous American musical performance “Hair” of the Brazilian version. After the performance, Arasi was invited to participate in the first children's Brazilian television in the program “ Sesame Street ”. After moving to Rio de Janeiro in 1974, Arasi began working with the television company " Globo ".

In 1996, Arasi Balabanyan received the award for the best female role in the television series “New Victim”, creating the image of Philomena Ferreto.

Arasi Balabanyan is single, no children.
