The Asia Premier League Trophy (known as the Barclays Asia Trophy for sponsorship reasons, formerly the FA Premier League Asia Cup ) is a friendly four-team preseason football tournament held in Asia every two years. The tournament involves three teams from the Premier League of England and the host team of the tournament. In 2011, Chelsea won the trophy. In 2013, Manchester City won the trophy by beating Sunderland 1โ0 in the final on Saturday July 27, 2013 . In the 2015 draw held in Singapore , Stoke finished in third place. Arsenal was the winner in this draw, beating the local Singapore team, which became the fourth and Everton in the final. in 2017 in Hong Kong Liverpool won the victory in the finals of the lester 2-1
History
Due to the huge popularity of the Premier League in Asia, it was decided to hold pre-season tournaments in Asia since 2003 . Originally known as the FA Premier League Asia Cup, the tournament is the only Premier League affiliated competition held outside of England.
Asia Trophy is held every two years, on odd years, in order to avoid conflict with the World Cup and the European Football Championship .
