History
On these lands there was a German colony, formed in 1230 by 200 families of German merchants-immigrants. In the middle of the XIII century the church was built here Niguliste .
Behind houses 6-10 down the street there was a foundry yard (Marshall) transferred here in 1372. Here, in the family of the cabman , Balthazar Russov was born - the first Estonian priest, pastor of the Church of Oleviste and author of the Livonia Province Chronicle.
In the foundry, which worked from the end of the XIV century until 1871, bells were cast. It also housed weapon workshops [1] , and next to the prison room was the Junker cell in the Tallitorn tower [2] .
On the street lived a city executioner .
The public bath known in the city (Boleman's bath) worked on the street - 20 , which was first mentioned in 1387. In 1531 a poorhouse was opened on the street ( d. 9 ).
From 1950 to 1987, the street was merged with Rataskaevu Street under the general name - Rataskaevu.
