Get weird

At the Brit Awards 2015 , the group confirmed that their album was completed, describing it as having a “completely new sound,” and it was announced that the album was planned to be released closer to the end of 2015 ^[5] . After writing more than 100 songs for their third album, in May 2015 Little Mix released a lead single, called “Black Magic” ^[6] . In addition, Little Mix wrote the song “ Pretty Girls ”, which they planned to include in the album, but later it was decided to give the song to Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea ^[7] .

On July 15, 2015, on their Twitter account, the group announced that their third album is called “Get Weird” and will be available for pre-order on July 16, 2015 ^[8] .

In February 2015, Little Mix announced that they had already chosen a single from the upcoming album ^[9] . May 14, 2015, after the cover of the new single was drained into the network, they announced that the song was called "Black Magic" ^[10] . The premiere of the song was scheduled for May 26, but was postponed to the 21st, as May 20, "Black Magic" was posted on the network. In the UK, the digital single was released on July 10. He took first place in the UK singles chart and stayed on top for three weeks.

On September 25, 2015, the band released Love Me Like You as their second single from the album ^[11] . A video clip for the song was presented on October 2, 2015.

On December 5, 2015, it was announced that the third single from the album would be “ Secret Love Song ” ^[12] .

Promotional

The song “Hair” was released as a promotion on August 28, 2015 and was available for download after pre-ordering the album. ^[13] The song ranked 35th on the UK singles chart. ^[14] "Weird People" was released on October 16, 2015 as the second promotional single. The song took 78th place on the chart ^[15] . On October 30, 2015, the latest “Grown” promotion was released, ranking 72nd on the chart.

June 6, 2015 Little Mix performed "Black Magic" at the mini-festival of Capital FM radio station " Summertime Ball " at Wembley Stadium ^[16] . On August 16, the band performed a single at the annual Teen Choice Awards 2015 ^[17] .

Tour

The tour is organized to promote the album. The Get Weird Tour was officially announced by the group on July 17, 2015 on Twitter ^[18] . The tour will begin March 13, 2016 in Cardiff and will cover cities in the UK and Ireland until April 23, 2016.

On October 13, 2016, it was announced that the tour would cover the cities of Australia ^[19] , which suggests that the group will have its first tour outside the UK and Ireland. The group expresses a desire to make this tour world-wide.

All in all, Get Weird received positive reviews from critics. In Metacritic , which assigns the arithmetic mean of the reviews of leading critics, the album received 66 out of 100 (based on 5 reviews), which indicates favorable reviews ^[20] .

AllMusic described the album as suitable for popping , and added: “Most of the songs contain kinetic energy, which is similar to 80s dance pop, such as Yello or Robert Palmer music, in the long run, such a mixture of music from different decades works and the album brings a lot of pleasure ” ^[21] .

NME noted that “the band’s personality and powerful vocals ignite Get Weird . The album is filled with irreconcilable pop music. Except for the moody ballad “Lightning”, which is impressive. The third album is distinguished by its originality ” ^[24] .

Critic of The Guardian stated that “most of the new Little Mix album consists of 90s teenage pop.” Initially, the reviewer showed disappointment in the album, but concluded that the album would still keep the group afloat ^[22] .

The Independent gave a mixed response: “There are many little things that are liked in the third album of Little Mix ... but this harmony, of course, is by and large annoying” ^[23] .
