Biography

Ivan Vasilievich Avchukhov (Ovchukhov) was born in the village of Ertil, Shchuchensky volost, Bobrovsky district, Voronezh province (now - the village of Pervo-Ertil, Ertilsky district , Voronezh region ).

He graduated from the 4th grade of the school, worked on the collective farm. In 1937 he was drafted into the Red Army , served in the Far East and in 1939 was demobilized. In December of the same year, he joined the aircraft factory No. 156 as a fitter.

In September 1941 he joined the 7th Moscow division of the people's militia. On the fronts of World War II from September, participated in the defense of Moscow . October 19, 1941 was wounded.

After the cure, he was sent to the 236th cavalry regiment on the Volkhov front where from December 1941 to July 1942 he served as a machine gunner. Participated in the Luban operation , March 21, 1942 was again wounded. In November 1942 he was appointed commander of machine gun crew and deputy commander of a machine gun platoon. He served on the South-Western Front , participated in the Battle of Stalingrad .

In September 1943, in battles in the Krasninsky district of the Smolensk region, he supported the attack of the squadron with machine-gun fire, ensuring its advance, destroying about 10 enemy soldiers and suppressing two enemy firing points. On December 23 of the same year, in battles for the city of Gorodok in the Vitebsk region , fighting off a counterattack, it destroyed machine gun fire near the enemy platoon. December 26, 1943 Avchukhov was wounded. He was treated in January - May 1944 in a hospital in the city of Ivanovo .

May 29, 1944 he returned to his regiment and was introduced to the Order of Glory 3rd degree. On June 5, an order was issued to award him.

On June 25, he distinguished himself in battle for a section of the Lida - Vilnius railway, replacing machine-gun crew; destroyed about 25 enemy soldiers and set fire to a passenger car. On October 27, he was awarded the Order of the Red Star.

On January 22, 1945, near the city of Allenstein ( Olsztyn , the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship ) in battle, put down two enemy machine guns and ensured a forward squadron breakthrough. By order of the command of the 2nd Belorussian Front on March 6, 1945, he was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree. On April 30 and May 1, 1945, in stubborn battles for the village of Menz in the commune of Stekhlin, he participated in 3 cavalry attacks, destroyed about 15 enemy soldiers with machine gun fire, and during the assault on the village in hand-to-hand combat, destroyed 2 officers and 3 from personal weapons soldier. On June 29, 1945, by a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, he was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree.

Ivan Avchukhov was demobilized in September 1945. Upon returning to Tushino, he worked at factory number 82 in various positions. He lived in Tushino.

Memory

He was buried in a cemetery in the village of Brattseva , in 1975 he was reburied in the Khimki cemetery .
