History
In 1793, a small church was built in the city of Arzamas, consecrated in honor of St. Andrew the First-Called. The church had two chapels: in the name of St. Andrew the First-Called and in honor of Saints Simeon and Anna. In 1870, thanks to the help of the merchant Rukavishnikov, a stone extension was built to the temple, as a result of which the church became much more spacious. At the beginning of the twentieth century, the church was renovated and a new stone fence was built. The altar of the church is very unusual - with two apses, which distinguished this church from many others. This was confirmed by studies of architects and restorers, which were carried out in the mid-twentieth century. The interior of the temple was quite rich.
In 1934, St. Andrew's Church was closed. The pioneer club was located in the temple building, and then the automobile club.
In 2004, the Church of St. Andrew the First-Called was handed over to the Orthodox Church. Restoration and repair work begins. After their holding, the church acquired its original splendor. In 2005, the temple is consecrated.
Now the doors of the temple are open for parishioners and believers, in it services are held every day.
