Feofan Venediktovich Pavlovsky ( Serb. Teofan Benediktovich Pavlovsky ), ( December 29, 1880 [ January 10 ], 1881 , p. Kamenka , Russian Empire [K 1] - June 13, 1936 , Kaunas , Lithuania ) - opera and chamber singer (baritone), theatrical producer. Soloist of the Bolshoi Theater (1910-1921), director of the drama and opera of the National Theater in Belgrade (1921-1928). Lecturer actor-ballet school and opera class in the music school.

The first performer of the parties Karenina (“Anna Karenina” by E. I. Granelli, 1906) and Johann (“Ole from Nordland” by M. Ippolitov-Ivanov, 1916).

In St. Petersburg, he first performed the part of Ivan-Korolevich (“The Immortal's Kashchei” by N. Rimsky-Korsakov, 1905), at the Bolshoi Theater - Alberich (“The Death of the Gods” by R. Wagner, 1911), Shaklovity (“Khovanshchina” by M. Mussorgsky, 1912 ), High Priest of Dagon (“Samson and Delilah” C. Saint-Saens, 1917).

The first on the Soviet stage performed the role of Wolfram von Eschenbach (“Tannhäuser” by R. Wagner, the second, “Parisian” edition of the author, 1919).

Took part in the first performance of the symphonic poem “The Bells” op. 35 Rachmaninov (under the control of the author), which took place on February 8, 1914 in the Moscow Great Hall of the Noble Assembly .

Especially successfully acted in Wagner operas.

Biography

In 1900 he graduated from the classical gymnasium. He received further education at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Odessa University and the Law Faculty of St. Petersburg University. From 1903 (in some sources from 1902) he studied singing at the St. Petersburg Conservatory (class S. I. Gabel ), from which he graduated in 1905.

In 1905 he was one of the leaders of the student strike committee.

He had a beautiful and strong voice, even in all registers and a wide range [1] .

He performed on the opera scenes of Kiev (M. Borodaya’s enterprise, seasons 1906/07 and 1909/10), Riga (1907), St. Petersburg (New Olympia ’summer, Entrepreneurial Kabanov and Yakovlev, 1907), Tiflis (1907— 08), Moscow (Opera S. Zimin, season 1908/09). In 1910–1921 (in some sources until 1919) the soloist of the Moscow Bolshoi Theater (made his debut in the Demon parts (“The Demon” by A. Rubinstein and Onegin (“Eugene Onegin” by P. Tchaikovsky), also a stage teacher and from 1917 - the operatic director a troupe.

He actively promoted Ukrainian music in Russia.

He was a member of the Kobzar society in Moscow and the chairman of the Society of Russian Music in Belgrade (Serbia).
