Description
Eyeless and wingless weevil beetles are reddish-brown. Body length from 3.7 to 5.0 mm. Rostrum approximately equal in length to pronotum . The integument is well sclerotized, covered with punctures and fossae. The body is elongated, subparallel. Pronotum hangs overhead. Antenna with 7-segmented flagellum with a large mace at the end. All individuals of this new species were collected by traps established in outcrops of rocks poorly covered by soil and vegetation, mainly characterized by Canary pine ( Pinus canariensis ), milkweed Euphorbia regis-jubae and shrubs characteristic of thermophilic habitats ( Cheirolophus arbutifolius , Pistacia atlantica , Pterocephalus lasiospermus , Artemisia thuscula , Withania aristata , Salvia canariensis ) [1] .
Two similar species differ from those described previously from the neighboring island of Tenerife (from the Canary Islands group) in larger sizes (4-5 mm versus 2.35-3.90 mm in Oromia aguiari Alonso-Zarazaga, 1990 , and 2.80-3. 56 mm in Oromia hephaestos Alonso-Zarazaga, 1987 ), pronotum hanging overhead, darker in color, ribbed dorsum, and lateral margins of pronotum [2] [3] .
