History
Basketball club "Ruskon-Mordovia" was created in 2005 in the form of a non-profit partnership by the Open Joint-stock Company "Lamzur" and the Government of the Republic of Mordovia.
The decision to open the club was made as a result of successful performances of the student team of Moscow State University. N.P. Ogarev in the Republican Basketball Championship. At the origins of creation were Alexey Merkushkin , Alexey Grishin, Alexander, Dmitry and Elena Labutiny. The idea of creating a basketball team was supported by the Government of the Republic of Mordovia.
The first coach of the team was Alexander Selyaev , who led the BC Togliatti the previous season. In addition to the former players of the student team, basketball players who already had experience in professional sports: Konstantin Selyaev , Edgar Movsesian , Sergey Oleynikov , Andrei Muravyov , Alexey Mironov, Yaroslav Grebelny and Dmitry Kononov were called up under the Ruskon flag .
The season 2005/2006 Saransk team began a long "harnessing". But soon followed by a long series of win-win games, which gave the players confidence in their abilities and contributed to the fact that the team gained momentum with each round. As a result, “Ruscon” reached the final of the Higher League “B” from the second place of the “Center” zone, losing the first to basketball players from Kirov . The final was preceded by preparatory training in Kislovodsk . As a result, unconditional victories in the matches of the final draw, where the teams of Irkutsk , Blagoveshchensk , Tobolsk and Kirov were defeated, which allowed Ruskon to "climb" to the Higher League "A".
In the 2006/2007 season, there were changes on the coaching bridge of the Mordovian team: instead of Alexander Selyayev, the team was invited to coach Pavel Brykalov , who in the 2005/2006 season was headed by the Novokuybyshevsky Olimp. Also the squad was replenished with experienced offensive defender Dmitry Rozhkovsky (who moved from “Dieselist”, Marx), Valery Vertinsky (captain of “Olympus”, Novokuibyshevsk), players of “Olympus” - Andrey Abramushkin and Anton Gulin .
Most of the distance “Ruscon” was held on the 2nd place, pursuing “CSKA-Trinta”, but at the end of the tournament several games in which the players of the Mordovian team failed to win, predetermined the final alignment of forces in the standings and radically changed the alignment. In a difficult and dramatic ending, Saransk basketball players took only fourth place. Only one victory was not enough for the cherished "bronze". The first were basketball players CSKA-Trinta, the second - Ryazan, the third - “ Volzhanina-HPP ” from Volzhsky.
On the eve of the 2007/2008 season, the Ruscon coaching staff has changed again. In the new role for himself, as head coach, Sergey Oleynikov began the season, who last year was a team player and an assistant to Pavel Brykalov . Also, there was a small change of composition: the contracts with Anton Gulin and Andrey Abramushkin, who transferred to BC Lipetsk, were not extended, the club broke up with center Andrei Muravyov and Vlad Onishchenko. They were replaced by Andrey Prikhodko and Dmitry Peresypkin, as well as Stanislav Kolesnikov, who greatly strengthened the game under the ring. Also, the new acquisition team was attacking defender Sergey Zakharov, who spent the last game year in the third composition of Khimki. The task for the season was the maximum - 1st place in the Higher League "A".
