Biography
Maciej Freimuth was born on February 24, 1967 in the city of Wombzeзno Kujawsko-Pomorskie province . He began to actively engage in rowing in early childhood, was trained in sports clubs "Orla" in Valce and "Zavisha" in Bydgoszcz .
He achieved his first serious success at the international level in 1988 when he joined the main team of the Polish national team and, thanks to a series of successful performances, won the right to defend the country's honor at the Summer Olympics in Seoul - in the four-seater crew, which also included rowers Wojciech Kurpevsky , Kazimierz Kshizanski and Grzegorz Kravtsuv , managed to get into the final stage of the tournament, was close to the prize positions, however, in the decisive round was only fifth in the finish line. At the same time, in twos, together with Kurpevsky, five hundred meters in the final showed the sixth result.
In 1989, Freimut spoke at the World Championships in Bulgarian Plovdiv, where he became a bronze medalist in twos at five hundred meters and a silver medalist in fours per thousand meters. A year later, at the home world championship in Poznan, he received a silver medal among singles per kilometer. As one of the leaders of the Polish rowing team, he successfully qualified for the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona - this time in four at a 1000-meter distance was the sixth, while in twos he won a silver medal at a distance of 500 meters, losing to the German crew Kai Bloom and Torsten Guche .
Having become a silver medalist, Maciej Freimuth remained in the main team of the Polish national team and continued to take part in major international regattas. So, in 1993, he represented the country at the World Championships in Copenhagen, where he won silver in the program of kayaks-twos at a half-kilometer distance and the program of kayaks-fours per kilometer distance. The following season, he visited the world championship in Mexico City, from where he brought the gold medal award won in twos at a distance of 200 meters. A year later, at similar competitions in German Duisburg, he added to the track record a bronze medal in the 500-meter double kayak.
In 1996 I went to represent the country at the Olympic Games in Atlanta , but this time I did not get to the top place, together with my partner Adam Vysotsky in the finals of the half-kilometer discipline came to the finish line fifth. At the European Championship in 1997 in twos won a bronze medal at two hundred meters and a silver at five hundred. Soon after the end of these competitions, he decided to end his career as a professional athlete, giving way to the team of young Polish rowers.
