Progress of the final match

For the first time the Kuybyshev Krylia Soviets reached the USSR Cup final for football, and for the Moscow Dynamo this final was already the fifth with one victory in it. Before this match, the teams only once converged on any of the stages of this tournament: in 1/2 of the USSR Cup in 1950, Dinamo defeated the Volga players at home (7: 0), Sergey Solovyov scored a hat-trick, the double of Konstantin Beskov [1 ] .

The match was the first USSR Cup final, played with artificial lighting.

From the very beginning of the meeting, Muscovites began to attack the opponent's gate. Especially in the organization of the attack stood Beskov and Sergei Salnikov , who in the 7th minute and led to the capture of the gate "Wings". Beskov gave an accurate transfer to the outgoing Salnikov, and he was marked by a scoring strike. Volzhane tried to restore the balance in the match, but met on their way a reliable game of defense "Dynamo". Muscovites, on the other hand, continued to create dangerous moments, several times dangerously hitting the Krylya goal, Vladimir Ryzhkin .

In the second half, the game leveled off. At the 58th minute, Kuybyshev's players got a chance to score when Dynamo goalkeeper Lev Yashin knocked the ball out, throwing himself at the feet of Viktor Brovkin , who was breaking through the goal. Bounce the ball handed down from the goal line defender Muscovites Boris Kuznetsov . In the same episode Yashin was injured, and he was replaced by a young goalkeeper Vladimir Belyaev . In the last minutes of the match, the Krylia players filed several corners, but they failed to change the score. Moscow Dynamo won the USSR Cup for the second time [2] .
