V Spanish Horse Cohort

V Spanish equestrian cohort ( Latin: Cohors V Hispanorum equitata ) - an auxiliary unit of the army of Ancient Rome.

This unit was recruited in the province of Tarracon Spain . The exact time of its formation is unknown. Apparently, it happened during the reign of Octavian Augustus . In 49, a cohort already existed. Initially, it was based, presumably, in Pannonia or another Danube province. About 70 years old, the cohort was relocated to Upper Germany . She took part in the campaign of Gnei Pinarius Clement . Around 79/80, the unit was transferred to Moesia . After the division of Moesia, it remained in the province of Upper Moesia. There was a cohort during the II century. In the middle of the III century, probably fought in Numidia.
