Marconi Crater ( lat. Marconi ) - a large impact crater in the equatorial region of the far side of the moon . The name was given in honor of the Italian radio engineer and entrepreneur Guglielmo Marconi (1874-1937) and approved by the International Astronomical Union in 1970. The formation of the crater dates back to the Early Imbrian period [1] .

Crater Description
The closest neighbors of the Marconi Crater are the Dellinger Crater in the northwest; craters Villev and Van den Bos in the north; Chaplygin Crater in the northeast; Beyerink crater in the southeast; Denning Crater in the south-south-west and Chauvin Crater in the west-south-west [2] . Selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater , diameter 72.9 km [3] , depth 2.8 km [1] .
The Marconi crater is close to circular with small protrusions in the northern and southern parts. The shaft is slightly flattened, in the southern part it has a decrease. The inner slope retained the remains of a terrace-like structure. The shaft height above the surrounding area reaches 1310 m [1] , the crater volume is approximately 4800 km³ [1] . The northern part of the bowl is relatively flat, possibly lined with lava , the southern part is crossed. In the southeastern part of the bowl are two small bowl-shaped craters. In the center of the bowl is a raised area formed by several hills.
