History
On June 17, 1982, the square at the intersection of Serebryany Boulevard and Kotelnikov Alley was named after one of the first Russian pilots Lev Makarovich Matsievich , who died in a demonstration flight at the Commandant airfield .
Memorial Sign
At the site of the death of Lev Matsievich, a memorial sign was created, which was created by the architect Ivan Fomin . Prior to the construction of the Commandant airfield, this memorial sign was located approximately at the intersection of Bogatyrsky Prospekt and Serebristy Boulevard. Then it was moved [ specify ] on the newly formed area. After construction in the late 1990s - early 2000s in the center of the square of four houses, the monument was not visible from it, and was moved to Matsievich Square on Aerodromnaya Street .
