Sports career

Eduardo Cubels was born in the Algirós district of Valencia. At the beginning of his career, he played in several football teams that existed in the region at that time. After moving with his family to Andalusia, he played for the Sevilla club for some time. In 1919 he returned to his homeland and became a player of the newly formed FC Valencia.

Eduardo Cubels was one of the idols of fans of “Valencia”, along with Arturo Montesinos (Montes), with whom he was close friends, despite the hostility of their fans (“cubellistes” and “montistes”).

With Valencia, Eduardo Cubels won the Regional Championship of Valencia ( Spanish Campeonato Regional de Valencia ) in 1923, 1925, 1926 and 1927, and the Spanish Levant Championship ( Spanish Campeonato de Levante ) in 1923 and 1925.

In 1925, Eduardo Cubels became the first player in the club to be invited to the Spanish national team. He played five matches for the national team and scored one goal.

As a semi-professional footballer, Kubels ended his 28-year career as a player in a family grocery store.

In 1936, he was the coach of the Valencia team in a friendly match against the Catalan team.

In 1943, Eduardo Cubels was appointed head coach of FC Valencia. Under his leadership, the team won the second championship title in its history (1944) and reached the final of the Spanish Cup for three consecutive years.

Since 1946, Kubels worked as technical secretary of FC Valencia. He left the club structure in 1959 .
