Count Loudon

Coat of arms of the Counts of Loudon

Earl Loudon is a hereditary title in the Peeking System of Scotland . It was named after the arrival of Loudon in East Ershire . The title was created in 1633 for John Campbell, 2nd Lord Campbell of Loudon (1598-1622), together with the additional title of Lord Tarrinsen and Mokhlin . Margaret Campbell, wife of the 1st Earl of Loudon, was the granddaughter and heiress of Hugh Campbell, Lord Campbell of Loudon. Hugh Campbell abdicated power in favor of his son-in-law John Campbell, who inherited the title of Lord Campbell from Loudon, becoming the peer of Scotland .

Flora Muir-Campbell, 6th Countess Loudon (1780–1840), became the wife of Francis Rawdon-Hastings, 2nd Earl of Moira (1754–1826), who later received the title of Marquis of Hastings . the next three counts of Laudon also carried the title of Marquis Hastings. In 1868, after the death of Henry Raudon-Hastings, the 4th Marquis Hastings and the 9th Earl of Loudon (1842–1868), the title of Marquis Hastings broke off, and the count title was inherited by Edith Maud Roudon-Hastings (1833–1874), the eldest daughter of the 2nd Marquis of Hastings.

The son and heir of the Earl of Laudon bears the title of courtesy - "Lord Mohlin".
