Early elections of the governor of the Kurgan region were held in the Kurgan region on September 14, 2014 on a single voting day . Elections were scheduled in connection with the early resignation of Governor Oleg Bogomolov . Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed acting governor Alexei Kokorin , who previously served as mayor of Shadrinsk , the second largest city in the Kurgan region.

The election was won by the previously appointed acting head of the region, Alexei Kokorin , who gained 84.87% of the vote. On September 26, he assumed the post of governor of the Kurgan region, and on September 29 appointed the head of the financial department Elena Perminova as the senator from the government of the Kurgan region. Earlier, the Kurgan region in the Federation Council was represented by Oleg Panteleev (from 2001 to 2014).
