Biography
Karl Wilhelm Friedrich is the son of Margrave Wilhelm Friedrich of Brandenburg-Ansbach and his spouse Christiana Charlotte of Württemberg-Vinnental . In the early years, his mother acted as regent for the minor margrave.
Karl Wilhelm Friedrich married Frederick Louise of Prussia (1714-1784), daughter of the King of Prussia Friedrich Wilhelm I. The spouses gave birth to the sons Karl (1733–1737), who died juvenile, and Karl Alexander Brandenburg-Ansbach (1736-1806). Karl Wilhelm Friedrich was a typical absolute monarch of his time and kept a luxurious court. His only official heir, he left a debt of 2.3 million Reichstherov . Karl Wilhelm Friedrich was an avid hunter and was especially keen on falconry . The margrave spent 10% of the principality’s budget only for hunting. Passion for hunting led to another kind of consequences: the mistress of the margrave, the daughter of a falconer Elizabeth Wünsch (1710-1757) bore him four children, two sons and two daughters. The Margrave rendered financial support to his illegitimate children and presented several sons with locks and provided them with von Falkenhausen baronial titles. Margrave Karl Wilhelm Friedrich developed rapid construction in the principality: he restored the Ansbach Palace and built two castles. During his rule in Ansbach, 56 new churches appeared. He died from a blow.
