Biography
Born December 28, 1859 ( January 9, 1860 in the new style) in Penza in a noble family.
In 1882, he graduated from the Medical Faculty of Moscow University (was a student of F. F. Erisman ) and worked there at the Department of Hygiene, as well as in other medical institutions. In 1903 he defended his thesis "The diffuse artificial lighting of classrooms." In 1908, he opened a private educational institution in Moscow, which was transformed in 1915 into a commercial school. [1] In 1911, Ignatiev participated in the competition to fill the position of professor of medical faculty, but was not elected and left Moscow University. According to other data, the reason for leaving the university was a protest against the appointment of reactionary L. A. Cassot as Minister of Education. [2]
He was one of the organizers of the Moscow Institute of Physical Culture and its first rector [3] (in 1918β1923). He also headed the Department of School Hygiene of the Moscow Pedagogical Institute. He was a consultant on school health and physical education at the People's Commissariat of Health and the People's Commissariat of Education of the RSFSR.
He lived in Moscow in Gorokhovsky Pereulok, 4 in the building of the Land Survey Institute. He died on October 5, 1927 in Moscow.
