Club career
Silva is a pupil of the Benfica club from his hometown. Due to the high competition, he played mainly for the backup team. On May 10, 2014, in his match against Porto , he made his debut in the Sagrish League [1] . In the first season, Silva became the champion of the country, as well as the owner of the Portuguese Cup . Although his contribution to overall success was minimal.
In the summer of 2014, Bernardo transferred to the French “ Monaco ” to obtain gaming practice. On August 17, in a match against Bordeaux , he made his debut in League 1 [2] . On December 14, in a duel against Marseille , Silva scored his first goal for Monaco [3] . In early 2015, Monegasques bought a transfer to Bernard for 15.8 million euros.
In 2016, in the Champions League matches against the English Tottenham Hotspur [4] and CSKA Moscow [5], Bernard scored a goal. In 2017, he helped Monaco win the championship for the first time in 17 years, being one of the team leaders.
On May 26, 2017, Silva signed a contract with Manchester City for 5 years. The amount of transfer amounted to 43 million pounds. The Portuguese will join the English club on July 1 [6] . On August 12, in his match against Brighton and Hove Albion , he made his debut in the English Premier League , replacing Sergio Aguero in the second half [7] . On October 14, Bernard scored his first goal for Manchester City in a duel against Stoke City [8] . In his debut season, he became the champion of England.
International Career
In 2013, Silva as part of the Portuguese national team under 19 years old took part in the youth European championship in Lithuania . At the tournament, he played in matches against teams of Spain [9] , the Netherlands [10] , Lithuania [11] and Serbia [12] . Bernardo scored a goal against Serbs.
On March 31, 2015, in a friendly match against the Cape Verde team, Silva made his debut for the Portuguese national team [13] .
In the same year, Bernardo won silver medals in the youth European Championship in the Czech Republic as part of the Portuguese youth team . In the tournament, he played in matches against the teams of England [14] , Italy [15] , Germany [16] and twice Sweden [17] [18] . In a duel against the Germans, Silva scored a goal.
In 2017, Silva took part in the Confederations Cup in Russia . At the tournament, he played in matches against the teams of Russia [19] , New Zealand [20] and Chile [21] . In a duel against the New Zealanders, Bernardo scored a goal.
In 2018, Silva took part in the World Cup in Russia. In the tournament, he played in matches against teams of Spain [22] , Morocco [23] , Iran [24] and Uruguay [25] .
