Initial Biography
Andrey Danilovich Kuleshov was born on October 1, 1904 in Kherson.
Military Service
Pre-war time
In November 1921, Kuleshov was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army , after which he was sent to study at the 62nd infantry command courses deployed in Kherson , then at the 47th infantry command courses deployed in Nikolaev , after which he was in August 1922 sent to study at the Military Economic School in Kharkov , and since October 1923 he studied at the Odessa Military Infantry School , after which in September 1926 he was appointed to the position of platoon commander of the 70th Infantry Regiment ( 24th Infantry Division ), and in December 1930 he was sent the 2nd Infantry Regiment (1st Moscow Proletarian Infantry Division), where he served in positions adjutant of the regiment, company commander, battalion chief of staff, assistant chief and interim chief of staff of the regiment.
In May 1935, Kuleshov was sent to study at the MV Frunze Military Academy , after which he served in the Academy since August 1938 as a tactics teacher, head of the educational department and deputy head of the 2nd faculty and 1st year chief .
In December 1940 he was appointed to the post of chief of the 2nd year of the 1st faculty of the Military Special School of the General Staff of the Red Army .
World War II
In July 1941, he was appointed to the position of senior assistant to the head of the Western Intelligence Task Force, in September - to the post of chief of the intelligence department of the 19th Army headquarters, after which he took part in hostilities during the Vyazemsky defensive operation, during which he fell into the environment from which he came out in uniform on October 12, having buried personal and party documents in the ground. Then Kuleshov was at the disposal of the Military Council of the Western Front and the Main Personnel Directorate of NPOs . In December, he was appointed to the post of chief of the operations department of the headquarters of the 20th Army , then to the post of commander of the 64th Marine Rifle Brigade and served as commander of the 331rd Rifle Division .
In May 1942 he was appointed commander of the 238th Infantry Division , which in June of that year was transformed into the 30th Guards . The division took part in the liberation of the cities Sychevka , Yelnya , Smolensk and Orsha .
In June 1944 he was appointed commander of the 8th Guards Rifle Division , and in August - the commander of the 7th Guards Rifle Corps , who took part in the Baltic offensive operation , as well as during the liberation of the cities of Madona , Orga and the eastern part Riga . In early April 1945, Kuleshov was removed from his post, after which he served as commander of the 92nd Rifle Corps , who took part in defensive military operations south of the city of Liepaja , as well as surrounded and captured enemy forces on the Kurland Peninsula .
Post-War Career
In June 1945, Kuleshov was appointed commander of the 15th Guards Rifle Corps .
In February 1946 he was sent to study at the main faculty of the K.E. Voroshilov Higher Military Academy , after which in June 1948 he was appointed to the post of chief of staff of the 8th Guards Army ( Group of Soviet Forces in Germany ), but to the post He didn’t enter and in September of that year he was appointed to the post of Head of the Staffing and Service Department of the Main Staff of the Ground Forces.
From April 1950 he served in the Main Organizational Directorate of the General Staff of the Soviet Army, from March 1953 - in the Main Staff of the Ground Forces, from April 1964 - in the Main Organizational and Mobilization Directorate of the General Staff of the USSR Armed Forces, and in April 1969 he was appointed to the post of Chief of Operations teams for the management of engineer-sapper and automobile battalions working in agriculture.
Lieutenant General Andrei Danilovich Kuleshov retired in February 1970 . He died on April 9, 1977 in Moscow .
