Getting

  • Passing of chlorine through a suspension of decacarbonyldirehenia in carbon tetrachloride :
Re2(CO)10+Cl2→2Re(CO)5Cl{\ displaystyle {\ mathsf {Re_ {2} (CO) _ {10} + Cl_ {2} \ {\ xrightarrow {}} \ 2Re (CO) _ {5} Cl}}}

Physical Properties

Chloro (pentacarbonyl) rhenium forms white crystals of rhombic syngony , space group P nma , cell parameters a = 1.1686 nm, b = 1.1661 nm, c = 0.6069 nm, Z = 4, isomorphic to chloro (pentacarbonyl) manganese or bromo (pentacarbonyl) manganese [1] .

It is poorly soluble in petroleum ether , it is well soluble in polar solvents: dichloromethane , tetrahydrofuran .
