Located on the Kamenka River, a tributary of the Osugi . To the district center Kuvshinovo - 17 km (in a straight line), from the highway " Torzhok - Ostashkov " to the village 9 km (via Prechisto-Kamenka ).
In 1997 - 5 households, 7 residents. The village has about 20 houses of varying degrees of conservation.
History
In Russia, there was a worldly name Moshnik , which originates from a similar noun with the meaning "moss". So called male capercaillie , flying in the autumn on berries to moss swamps. The name of the village could have come from this name or nickname.
According to the data of 1859 [1], there were the village of Moshnik (13 yards, 118 inhabitants) and the proprietary village Alekseevo (5 yards, 44 inhabitants). In the collection of statistical data [2] in 1884, Alekseevo was no longer listed, but there is the village of Moshnik in 2 parts, where former landowner peasants live, a total of 38 yards (189 inhabitants). At the end of the 19th - beginning of the 20th centuries, the village of Moshnik belongs to the Prechisto-Kamensky parish and the parish of the Novotorzhsky district of the Tver province .
In the late 1930s - 1940s, the village of Moshnik had about 60 yards and was part of the Prechistokamensky Village Council of the Kamensky District of the Kalinin Region . During the Great Patriotic War , 20 villagers died on the fronts [3] .
In the 1970s and 80s, the village was part of the collective farm . M.I. Kalinina.
