Biography
Born on August 9, 1946 in with. Vokhtomskoye, Konoshsky District, Arkhangelsk Region . In 1970 he graduated from the Physics Department of Moscow State University .

He solved a number of well-known problems and laid the foundations of new large areas of mathematical physics, which were widely recognized - p-adic mathematical physics and the stochastic limit method in the quantum theory of dynamical systems.
The construction of p-adic strings and p-adic quantum mechanics proposed by Volovich prompted extensive research in our country and abroad on the applications of p-adic numbers in mathematical physics.
Having substantially developed and generalized a number of previous works by N. N. Bogolyubov , I. R. Prigogine, and other researchers, I. V. Volovich developed a method for the stochastic limit of studying the dynamic properties of quantum models. This method is widely used by domestic and foreign researchers.
He proposed and solved the superaudoduality equations for the supersymmetric Yang - Mills theory , solved the model of statistical mechanics with Toeplitz interaction on the semi-axis, proposed and studied models of string theory with connectivity on the string surface, in particular, the theory of torsion strings and the theory of affine strings. He constructed solutions of the equations of the multidimensional Kaluza-Klein theory and the effective theory of superstrings with additional time-like measurements.
In the 2000s, the attention of a scientist was attracted by research in the field of quantum computers. In this area, in particular, he built a quantum analogue of the Kolmogorov machine and proposed a method for reducing quantum decoherence.
Investigated the spatio-temporal characteristics of entangled quantum states.
