History

Original appearance (1904)

The temple was erected as the home church at the Women's Commercial School of the Moscow Society for the Spread of Commercial Education . The construction of the school building with the home church was started in 1904 by the project of the architect N. L. Shevyakova ; the temple was consecrated on June 9, 1905 [6] [7] [8] .

In 1910 - 1911 , for the preparatory classes of the school along Bolshoy Strochenovskiy lane , a two-storey building was added to the church, designed by the architect A. U. Zelenko . After 1918, the church became a parish for several years, and since 1929 it has been used for training needs by the Moscow Plekhanov Institute of National Economy . The interior of the temple was almost completely lost, the interior is distorted by the construction of interfloor partitions.

In 2002, the parish of the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God “The Search for the Perished” was established and legally registered (it belongs to the Moskvoretsky deanery of the Moscow city diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church ). In 2011, the administration of the REU provided the parish with a room in which the altar part of the church was once located to hold monthly worship services. In 2015-2016, intensive repair and restoration work was carried out on the entire corps of the former Women's Commercial School, during which it was assumed that the church would be fully restored as an active one [9] . The building was opened after restoration on August 30, 2016 [10] . On October 14, 2016, the temple was again consecrated by His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill [11] ; Regular worship services are currently held.
